INTRODUCTION

The department of Conservative dentistry & Endodontics forms the backbone and foundation of clinical dentistry. The ultimate goal of Conservative dentistry is to preserve natural dentition or to restore it to the best state of health, function and esthetics. Endodontics is the branch which deals with the etiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of pulp & periapical tissues compatible with good health

  • The department has a preclinical and a clinical wing.
  • The pre clinical wing comprises of dental materials and preclinical conservative laboratories. It is well ventilated accommodating 60 phantom heads.
  • The clinical wing is separated into UG and PG Clinic with Common Reception, Patient waiting area, Instrument sterilization room, RVG room, Special clinic, Seminar room, Department Library, Departmental Museum, Staff rooms andPG common room.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

II BDS

  • II BDS pre-clinical training programmeincludes lectures and exercises on Plaster models, Extracted teeth, and Typhodont teeth on phantom heads.
  • Training in manipulation of various dental cements and restorative materials required for clinical treatment procedures.

III BDS & IV BDS

  • For the clinical posting in III & IV BDS students are trained to diagnose and render restorative treatments such as class I – VI restorations using dental Amalgam, Glass Ionomer Cements and Composites.
  • Anterior Root canal treatment procedures
  • This learning environment includes class room teaching, chair side discussions and demonstrations.
  • We encourage students to take part in scientific conferences and to present scientific posters and papers.

INTERNS

  • Restoration of extensively mutilated teeth
  • Tooth colored restorations
  • Treatment of discolored vital and non vital teeth.
  • Management of pulpless single rooted teeth with or without periapical lesions
